Janice Rahn's interest in gardening and art history, is evident in her recent series of organic female arbor structures, in carved porcelain sculptures, plasma cut steel, bamboo and willow, charcoal/ink drawings, and mono prints. She also makes documentary videos and audio/video installations in collaboration with Michael Campbell, most recently shown at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Kulteren der Welt Berlin, and the Venice Biennale 3.

As an academic, Rahn has written extensively about contemporary art practice. Her doctoral thesis, Painting Without Permission published by Bergen and Garvey, and numerous catalogues and articles explore urban expressions in public space, identity development in young people, peer influence, the rigor of creating and the effects of the critique on thinking. Her book Viewfinding is about teaching visual culture and video sketchbook. |
